Simply put when Desmond failed to push the “button” the magnetic field opened another time dimension. They(the plane) traveled into the future. The magnitism opened up a time riff, a hole as it were. They are now in the future. The world as they know it is no longer there. There is no where to go except for the north or south poles and the island. There was some catastrophic event that took place that we dont know about yet.(Maybe global warming)
Jack will find out that there is no where to go.The point that backs this up is when Desmond traveled back to Penny. He was caught in a time riff of his life that had already happened. This may sound far out but,if you have studied on EM you will know what Im saying. To all that do its Top of the morning to ya!!

You give no evidence to back up your theory and I believe that is because there is no evidence for it on the show. Also, why would they only be able to go to the north or south pole?

Sorry about the triple posting, the page wasn’t loading correctly so I hit the post comment button twice more.
The following theory has been debunked: One or more of the characters traveled in a time machine or went through something that involved time travel (as conventionally related in the science fiction genre).
However… Though the writers have said “no time travel” specifically, Damon Lindelof also drops the hint that time may move differently on the island; for example, at Comic Con ‘06, where he responded to one fan’s question with: “It’s interesting that you should ask about time because… you know… you’re making a basic assumption that they’ve been there, y’know, as long as they think they’ve been there.”

I gess what happened to Desmond wasnt real,go ahead and debunk the hole show.I really dont have time for this meager web site anymore. It was good at first then……….
Why are you getting so mad just because some people don’t agree with your theory? I have read most of your other theories and thought they were very good, I just didn’t agree with this one.
I know exactly what you mean Bigez this site was good in the begining now these stupid idiotic people put moronic theories on this site that have no substance…..
i actually like the whole in time part
are they watching the same programme as we are!!!
Getting mad is for foolish people, and Im not foolish.I dont care if anyone agree’s with my theories. That still dont change my mind. Station0TheHub I really dont think we are watching the same show as everyone else.
Well, I get lost for a few days and look what happens! Bigez, you’d better not give up on this website. Really, it is the most user-friendly of them and the easiest to navigate. Your theories do well here too. Besides, you’re practically the only one who rates my theories decently!
I know the site did get clogged up with a lot of DUH! stuff (hey is it just me or did anyone notice they’re on an island? type), bogus theories, people repeating previous theories they never bothered to read, and postings of brilliant original theories that have been debunked for seasons, but there have been good ones, especially lately. It will probably always go back and forth like that, but that’s the price for not having one of those moderaters, for which I will put up with a lot.
As for your theory, I like it, especially as it goes well with my own, not the same, but they do complement each other. It’s not time travel per se, it’s alternate time, which has not been debunked.
Alternative time would explain that they may have been there longer than they think… And if that’s what you’re trying to say then great! Even though I can’t really process the possibilites that sounds cool.
It’s just that actual time travel, the sci-fi kind if you will, has been debunked. This means that Desmond either dreamt or he actually experienced those events in real life (it’s still possible that 3.8 really happened even though it’s hard to understand how). How could he be completely naked and without a scratch as he woke up in the jungle? It was all a set up, just like the plane crash. The way the hatch imploded, the way the plane crashed… there is no way in “our” reality that any one could have survived these events let alone be without a scratch.
btw I agree that a lot of people are putting up theories that have been debunked for quite sometime, but what are you gonna do? Sure it’s a bit annoying and yes I wish that people looked around www.lostpedia.com and other websites some to refresh themselves but it’s not that big of a deal because there a still a lot of people who are on the current page.
Good thoughts willbrillband !! We are all on the same page.Good to see your theories up Ozzig!!!
I agree with you willbrillbrand about no one being able to survive the way the hatch imploded. However, the way that the plane crashed, the cabin was mostly still intact and in those types of plane crashes there are often survivors. The number of people who survived this particular crash though does seem a little farfetched.
When Desmond turned the failsafe key, he was in the hatch at it’s center, so if it imploded around him, he would be nothing but smashed meatballs. Given that he’s up and about with a new mental attitude, to me that says one thing and one thing only: The second he turned that key, he was no longer there in that location at that time. Whatever the force was, it phased him out of the vicinity, and then back in. Could be the same for the aircrash survivors, the same energy released in the planes’ direction. Phase out, phase in.
Right on Ozzig!!
Also of note: Time passage while he was “away” was what? 2 or 3 days? Time passage from the moment he turned the key until he woke up in the jungle: a matter of hours, maybe even minutes. Time away from island does not= time on the island.
