you know those guys who might have found the island.
you know those guys at the end of season 2 telling Penny that they think they found the island. they’re in Antarctica, and isnt there a space-bubbel thing which goes from the island to present Antarctica. i dont know if this helps at all but i was just watching the end of season 2 and you no.
Pez: take that and formulate a theory. I don’t think they (the bubbles - if you are right) could be connected, otherwise, they wouldn’t be having such a hard time finding them.
Secondly, how do the guys in Antartica know its an island?
Thirdly, I don’t have the episode on tape, but I seem to remember them saying “did we miss it again?” insinuating it has happened before…hmmm….when could that have been?

My guess would be when Desmond get’s late to press the button making 815 to crash in the island. It seems that the “electromagnetic pulse” or what a not becomes visible when the reactor stops from being controled by the station, irradianting too much energy.

I think they don’t know about the island, they were there just searching for Desmond’s boat. His boat probably had a GPS to be tracked for emergency reasons, but since the boat has never been found and his last signal was from that coast, Penny sent a rescue team to search for it. But of course that being a daughter of Mr. Widmore I wouldn’t doubt that she found some research by her father and was able to sum 1+1 and then send a team to research that cost.
@freakme: yes. I think you’ve got it. actually, there have been a few instances where the Losties didn’t get the code entered exactly on time and the “underworld” heiroglyphs came up. Maybe that’s what triggers the EMP.
Desmond’s boat: good point. they may have been tracking it but when he got to the island, the island’s ability to cloak itself cloaked Desmond as well. Its actually not a difficult strech for the Antarctic guys to guess Des may have found an island. I really like your suggestion that Penny snooped into Old Man Widemore’s “secret documents” and found out it was an island.
I could go for an episode starring Penny in season 4… might be a neat way to learn more about what the hell is going on OFF the island.
