How do you think the technology is on the island?
I think that Ben has the Losties fooled. I think that they went onto the Flight 815 in 2004, then, in the space bubble incident, in which they landed on the island a few years later without knowing it. I think this because of the technology that is on and brought to the island looks pretty new. Example: Naomi’s phone. Ben telling Jack that some football team one the final, and Jack didnt beleive him (im australian, so i dont know much about nfl), the space-bubble thing should prove my theory and the microphone video call made between Charlie and Penny in the season 3 finale.
It wasn’t the NFL, it was major league baseball, and Jack didn’t believe that the Red Sox won the World Series because the Red Sox NEVER win the World Series (or at least hadn’t) due to a supposed curse. Remember that Jack’s dad always told his joke about why the Red Sox will never win the series. The Red Sox actually did win in 2004, so that game is not something that happened in the future.
time on the island “works differently” than in the real world. Based on Sayid (the Losties resident techno expert) saying “it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before” - we can infer the outside world has advanced beyond 2004 to the point a sat phone like what Naomi carried had been invented.
I think the island is still in 2004, but the outside world is continuing to move forward in time.
