Weird Stuff
— sleepz
While researching form another post I stumbled along this. Some weird stuff going on in this promo.
I have never seen it before and it was a messed up trailer.
Notice how
Locke and Walt are orchestrating the music, a clear give away for things to come.
The Love rivalry is evident before the launch of the show
Sun Jin and Micheal had some weird stuff going on

Let me know what you guys get from this
Have you seen the version with the voices? Here is a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIlnMzjUrXI
Notice that it says ‘one of us is a saint’ as well as ‘one of us is a marker’ and ‘all of us are guilty, all of us are lost’
Spent quite a bit of time looking for these this morning as my curiosity was peaked by any earlier post….
Oh yes and strangely, Claire isn’t pregnant in these promos.
Mrs Sawyer beautiful and clever i see. Sawyers got great taste. Thanks for that really really good to hear the voices. ‘all of us are guilty all of us are lost’ that is really strange. Claire not being pregnant is also weird
Thanks Em
Kat definitely UK Promo. what about the all of us are guilty ???
yeah agree all the main characters are guilty of something but I took from that statement all the survivors are guilty am I reading to much into it.
That would make more sense Kat certainly. I shall give it another listen.
Sleepz flattery will win you +++1’s lol.
Really intrigued by ‘all of us are guilty’ - its got to mean something. Notice also its Sawyer who says ‘one of us is a hero’. Wonder if there are any other clue-like elements…
Wow, I really like those previews! I agree that they say a lot about the future of the show, and it shows which parts they had planned out circa Season 1. The love triangle and the Walt and Locke part seems clear. It’s also cool to watch the one with the voices and see which “one of us” they say when the flash to different characters. I think they showed Hurley when they said murderer??
Em I completely agree, As soon as I heard the words all of us are guilty my head started to do double time ‘all of us are guilty’ What was Locke guilty of Kat I’m unclear I can only see him being used and abused in his flashbacks, Charlie Also what did he do so wrong apart form the drug abuse.
Probably reading way too much into this but Michael is walking (being rewound?!!) backwards away from the others.
Wonder who the ‘saint’ is?
Kat: Well Locke was living on a commune growing weed for a while. I suppose technically one could see that as a bad thing :-)
Kat: “Kind of creepy to say.. but, Locke seems to be some sort of orchestrator in that clip..”
And Walt is his apprentice, like a junior ‘orchestrator’. Actually I prefer the word ‘conductor’ because it implies not only are they directing in one respect but also they are a conduit for something else… This makes me think of the backgammon conversation, ‘light and dark’ and Locke teaching Walt to throw knives. I think their relationship is going to become very important.
Hurley had Claire’s “pregnant suit” on…..and later on Boone was wearing it!
That said, I believe both videos show us the path of the show the first two seasons…
Em(Mrs Sawyer) Good call i put that in my post because that was the first thing I noticed. The whole clips kinda weird and surreal. I agree that Locke and Walt will become very essential going forward. I have also heard that Micheal will be back for the next 3 seasons and that a contract has been agreed.
Kat I don’t think growing weed is enough to be guilty, I think Walt and Locke are exceptions to this rule. I also think this is why they can communicate with Jacob because they are not guilty.
howey, didn’t see any pregnant suites where were they exactly.
Um… aren’t promos supposed to make you WANT to watch the show?
:-D
More importantly … what is that shirt Jack is wearing in the opening scene? It looks like the wife-beater version of Seinfeld’s puffy shirt. Very disturbing.
Prof. Thats promo is sorta normal for Channel 4 here in the UK, its quite a bizarre channel that shows all the diverse/Controversial stuff. so was probably produced in that manner for them.
I agree with sleepz, British people’s tastes are vastly different from those of Americans, as well as people elsewhere, so I would just assume that different promotional spots are the norm. For instance, if that little humorous bit with Locke and Walt were in the U.S. promos I think that would have turned some viewers away.
But beyond that, did the show start in the UK at the same time as in the US? What I’m getting at is that if the show started later in the UK then all the assumptions that this promo “says” alot about the future of the show is not logical. This “promo” would have been constructed after several shows had already been aired in the US. Can anyone verify original air dates?
crbolosan, good thinking and you are absolutely right I think at some point we were almost a whole season behind you. so the producers were probably in the middle of filming season 2 by the time we started watching.
I had trouble matching the character with their label - but maybe you all can help:
Saint=Hurley
Murderer=Sawyer/Kate?
Martyr=Boone? Sun?
Junkie=Charlie
Cop=Annalucia
Hero=Jack
Fraud=Kate/Sawyer?
Sinner= Sayid?
I don’t see the pregnancy suits either. I do notice the heavy mascara and eye liner almost everyone is wearing, and Kate’s espcially is running down her face from crying.
Just rewatched—Kate’s mascara appears to be running down her face more and more as the video progresses—as if she’s not crying at the beginning but then crying as the video plays. Charlie & Hurley don’t have dance partners. Ethan is dancing with Claire. Michael is walking backwards with suitcase in hand.
I thought Boone was dancing with Claire…
Yooo I Remember 1 Of Those Being Aired At A Cinema Just Before A Film Interesting…check out my other post everything happens for a reason folks only 1 commetn i wanna get some more cuz i dnt kno if you’ll find it interesting
Stip, I wouldn’t consider Ana Lucia in the group as the promo was probably produced before the Tailies were introduced. I would consider Sayid as the “cop” because he was attempting to carry out justice (both in his past and to Sawyer in season one, and then he crossed that path again after Ana Lucia killed Shannon, ironically).
Here’s how my list would look:
Saint = Hurley (probably everyone’s choice)
Murderer = Sawyer (over Kate because Kate’s murder was an attempt at doing the right thing, Sawyer’s murder was a mistake on attempted revenge)
Martyr = certainly after season 3 we all might say Charlie, but back then I would say Jin. He sacrificed his character, and to a certain extent his marriage, to work for Sun’s father to try to make their marriage work. (why would Boone be a martyr? he didn’t die FOR anything)
Junkie = the obvious choice is Charlie, but I think Locke’s varying “addictions” can be considered into the label as well
Cop = Sayid (reason given above)
Hero = Jack
Fraud = Kate, she’s untruthful to everyone, from Jack in season 1 to having sex with Sawyer in season 3
Sinner = Michael. He’s selfish, inconsiderate, unjustified (with Jin), jealous (of Locke with Walt), biased, a poor father, greedy, unloyal, cruel…… the list is never ending
Hmmm I would disagree with Hurley as the Saint. I mean he’s nice and all, but I wouldn’t say that’s enough reason. My money is on Rose as the Saint…
Oh and I think Boone was the Martyr and Charlie the Junkie. Shannon could be the Sinner hence why she died.
mrs sawyer you truly are as smart as you are beautiful can you +1 twice on the same thread
I don’t think I would have watched the show if this was the trailer in America! I looked up the word martyr and I thought this defination was interesting: a person who undergoes severe or constant suffering. Isn’t Hurley in constant suffering over the numbers since the shows conception? I don’t think that Hurley is the saint because it’s too obvious and a literal definition of the word. Plus it also says that they are all guilty, so when I think they say saint, I think maybe savior of sorts; heres a great definition of saint: a founder, sponsor, or patron, as of a movement or organization. That makes me think of Jack! This show is never black and white which is why the words shouldn’t be taken as black and white!
Oh and i thought it looked like Micheal was getting shot.
I have been trying to remember where I’ve seen this before….then remembered, it’s on the season 1 DVD, disc 7. interesting comments all around!
Very bizarre! Kate looks dead in some of the scenes. I guess it could have been done just for provocative marketing in England, or maybe it was intended to be some kind of dream sequence? Hurley is the only one not participating in the strange stuff which seems meaningful - as if it is his dream or that he is the only “real” character. Dunno, but it sure is interesting.
I think may represent what we’ve all been fearful of (or at least i know i have). The writer’s have a general idea of what they want to do per the actual plot but as far as the characters go, they could be anyone. This was proven for me when Ben’s character was only supposed to be around for 3 eps but then got spun into an entirely new character due to…who knows.
I think this is shown through walt and locke’s light and dark convo and now, in them orchestrating the messy opera that is LOST that LOCKE was supposed to be JACOB’s character (and am not completely sure ISNT even tho the eye in the cabin was different but still…maybe time displacement changes the hue of one’s iris…) and now, has become a variance of characters (ben, jacob, perhaps others?) since this ad was aired. Yeah…not quite sure if this was a positive post or not…
The writer’s not knowing exactly what theyre doing is also exemplified in this lurid politically incorrect “jungle fever” representation of a commercial. The michael/sun/jin love triangle that SEEMED like it was gonna get hot in seasons 1/2 but actually went no where is painted HERE like it was gonna get down to flesh eventually. No way in the real show.
this makes me want british television…
maybe “we are all guilty” refers to not what has happened in the “past”..ie pre-island..but rather what is going to happend on the island that may cause the destruction of the world or the island and its importance……
Yep. Looks like some mean paparazzo took footage of the actors the morning after they celebrated the wrap of the shooting for the pilot episode. Everyone looks just a tad hung-over, if ya ask me.
Hahaha … my favorite part is where Kate is about to fall over into the ocean, and she’s swinging her arms trying to keep her balance. Tee hee.
