“The island is Lockes destiny, and he will never leave.”
— TheHolyStickman
This theory is about Locke and his walkabout that he planned. I mention this briefly in my Walabout observations. http://lost-theories.com/theories/2007/jun/12/strange-stuff-about-walkabout-/
So pls look at this Theory below below and leave some comments. ; )
When Locke gets knocked down by the boar in episode 4. We can see the terror on his face as he wonders if he’s paralysed again. This plus the relief on his face when he move his toes, magnifies his fear of being paralysed. Locke has a desire to be free and to hunt, to explore (The Island). Locke exploring has lead to; finding the hatch, the ? mark, Water and food… and a lot more.
Locke describes his dream Walkabout, which is described as similar to the island. Spritual renewal which is what Locke has as he said in White rabbit he’s an ordinary man but this place changed him as he is now a strong believer in fate. Strength from the Earth, Before the crash Locke was in a wheelchair, he was given strength from the island, to help himself walk, also in deux ex machina (Episode 18 Season 1) he falls down because of his legs but he is able to keep going for a time because the island gave him strength inseperable from it, Locke has expressed many times that he doesnt want to leave the island, and neer more strongly than in the epic season 3 finale when he murders Naomi in order to keep Jack from leaving. (I have a separate theory for this http://lost-theories.com/theories/2007/jun/10/locke-sees-flash-forward/) This gives us a clue of his future views of the Island and his unwillingness to leave.
Locke first mentions destiny in episode 4 “walkabout” and he compares his destiny to that of Norman Croucher a man who climbed up mount everest with no legs. He thinks the walkabout is his destiny but that leads him to the island his real destiny. He also thought that the hatch was his destiny so he did everything he could do get inside, two men died in the process of thi (Boone and Dr Arzt). He thought he was wrong when he saw the tape in the pearl. But he wasnt him stopping pressing the button was the biggest mistake he had made on the island. But whilst this was bad he also jammed ‘the others’ from sending transmissions, which was good.
Locke’s wakabout that he planned in Austrailia led him to the island. The island turned out to be his massive Walkabout. The island is Lockes destiny, and he will never leave.

HolyStickMan: good job. One point I’d like to debate with you: why did Locke lose power in his legs right before finding the Beechcraft? Do you think the island sensed impending doom and took away his legs so Boone would have to go instead? OR… do you think because there were priests in the plane, they acted like kryptonite (meaning Locke is evil) keeping him away? I prefer the 1st theory, but interested in your slant…
I have a 3rd guess that’s rather wild, but will hold to see what others post.
hmm i agree with ur 1st one as Locke said Bonne was a sacrifice the island demanded.
Thanx stip if u read this can give it a +1 im desperate lol. ohh and steve if u read this do u want to have a competion to see who can get the lowest rating on a theory. Leave a comment on here if ur interested

That could be a possibility, and what if Locke’s flashback was actually a flash forward, so he know, no mather what he does, that he will sometime leave the island and end up going back to his miserable life where he is in a wheel chair and trying to get back with Helen? It would explain why he is doing all this to keep Losties on the island, and just like Desmond, he is trying to change the course of destiny, but just like Desmond, he realize time after time that it’s useless, that cosmos course correct itself. That would make the story line of the hole show very twisted and hard to follow, but ain’t it exactly what the writers want it to be?
StickMan: I agree with your summation that Locke’s destiny is to stay on the island - it is where he is at his best. No argument.
