The episode is named The Pilot, not only because it is our pilot episode but because The Pilot is the clue the producers are pointing us to.

This just struck me as i was reading a comment by Fibonacci to jazprof’s (group1) observations. please see jazprof’s (group1) observations.
My theory is that the Pilot was instructed to take the plane of course and be at our coordinates at the precise time Desmond fails to press the button. Then he is assassinated by whoever controls Smokey. The episode is named The Pilot, not only because it is our pilot episode but because The Pilot is the clue the producers are pointing us to. =).
interesting… i like it. But then why would he tell Jack and Kate?
Sorry, Idon’t see how anyone could have known when Des would have failed to enter the numbers. It was an unplanned event. I can’t talk myself into it
How the heck would they know when to crash the plane (whoever they are)? If so then Kelvin must be involved somehow - luring Desmond off the hatch and so on.. or the computer was programmed (by someone or by default) to fail anyway at this precise time. I do not reject the possibility of your theory but for now i think it’s farfetched
It is a little farfetched. If you assume the pilot is part of the whole conspiracy then you also have to assume that Desmond is part of it as well, but sentiment is pretty much agreed that that is not the case. Plus Desmond failing to press the button was an accident. Smokey knowing exactly where the pilot is and finding him at the exact same time that Jack & Kate happen to find him is too coincidental.
crbolosan: “Smokey knowing exactly where the pilot is and finding him at the exact same time that Jack & Kate happen to find him is too coincidental”
I agree with that
i don’t buy it….because most series premieres first episode is called “pilot”
my guess is that the clue is jack…he was the only one in the jungle while the losties where on the beach
he was the only one on the jungle in the pilot episode…correct? can anyone back me up on that?
But don’t we know that he was on the plane because of flashbacks showing him with Michelle Rodriguez?
FWIW, I believe that if the losties plane crash is part of their plan to return to the island (see my theory) then Desmond is ~absolutely~ also part of it.
Lost_Heroes—Jack was the only one not on the beach, unless we count the Pilot.
No way
They know because they have record and they have time travel, what more do you need other than for history to repeat itself. You judge to quickly…
Lost_heroes, i get that a first episode is called a pilot, I mentioned that didn’t I? It’s a clue that is easily overlooked, “Did you catch the clue?” If a time loop is possible then planning the crash is possible. I had trouble with the theories that planning a crash is too risky but if time travel is possible and it is also possible that this is not the Losties first time on the island then it is possible that this could be planned if a few things remain consistent, like Desmond failing to push the button on a certain given day. All they need is a pilot to take the plan a few hundred miles off course. Smokey wouldn’t have to find where they are, if this is not the first time all he needs is to be directed. It’s time travel and the matrix theory. Neo tried hundreds of times to choose the right door, what’s to say Dharma or whoever planned the crash didn’t try hundreds of times to get it right?
i dig it know!–-i’m gonna watch “pilot” one more time…!!lol
I’m with Jaz in all the clues being with Jack, He knew which sewing bag to get, He knew he had to get the transceiver he knew which passengers he could save. he just knew far far to much. I also think Kate was also really weird the whole episode, She looked several times at Sun in a really weird way. Vincent and Jack were the key in my opinion.
I love this idea!
Thanks Nikarro!
