I was just watching the finale of season 3 (love that limewire).I noticed in the flash forward (where Jack is talking to the black man/Dr. R Hamill) that under his name it says chief of surgery.
In going with the theory that the flash forward time period is actually in the past (losties taken back in time before the accident) wouldn’t Jacks father still be chief of surgery? The things that happened before (Jack turning his father in for drinking causing him to lose his job and going to sydne) wound’t have happened. I wonder what events led up to someone else being chief of surgery in the flash forward/past before accident?

| Jack’s father is alive? | celticfc | 8 | 0 | 0 |
Yes, I’ve suggested something like this before as well. In this vision of the future or past, I believe Jack may not even be a surgeon.!!. Dr. Hamill doesn’t recognize Jack at all - he has to ask him specifically, “Who are you?” If Jack was a surgeon in any rotation of that hospital, wouldn’t the chief of surgery recognize him immediately? After Jack introduced himself, he said something like, “Oh yeah, you’re the hero, the guy that pulled the lady and her son from the burning wreckage.”
Remember, according to the flashbacks, when Jack was a surgeon at the hospital, he was not only a surgeon, he was one of the most gifted and talented spinal surgeons on staff. In my opinion, Dr. Hamill would have known him immediately. And you’re right, I believe Jack’s dad, if alive, would have been the chief of surgery!
So explain to me again when you think this scene is taking place - AFTER the rescue (when Jack used the phone at the end of season 3) or do you think it was BEFORE the crash of flight 815 we witnessed in the pilot episode in season 1?
Both. I believe the theory that when they get rescued the only way they are allowed to return to their lives is to go back before the crash ever happened. Basically making their experience on the island non-existent. That’s why his father is still alive and thats why Kate is not in prison. The things that lead them to the island have been changed. The only way to get back to that island now is to actually find it. Too many things have been changed now to have the exact same event take place. They’ve changed their future only by going back in time and changing things then. I guess Jack isn’t happy with the outcome. The island isn’t seeming so bad now.
The phone that Jack had was a 2006 model and the newspaper he read in the plane was dated in 2007.
hmmm you think Jack would have purchased the 07 razor.
i think the fact that he´s chief of surgery is a good indication that it IS a flashforward. If Christian had been alive then he would have been chief of surgery. Even if jack went back in time, that would only change his lifestory, his father was on his way to becomin chief of surgery before jack was even born.
