Just some very minor speculation as to Juliet’s decision to let Kate and Sawyer go.
Juliet wanted Ben dead, but whether or not it was totally due to it simply serving her purpose, or if she actually harbored some hatred for the guy, I really didn’t know. Until I re-watched “Not in Portland” again last night.
I think in the operating room, all her talk about how Jack would never let a patient die was just for the sake of the others, so they would believe it and not worry that Jack would actually let Ben die, giving him a better chance of letting Ben die. Jack surprised her with his blackmail twist, something she was not in agreement with. She did not want Kate and Sawyer to escape, preferred them dead rather than escaped.
She changed her mind. It was something Pickett said to her, and you could see her brain thinking overtime about it. He said that Ben would rather die than for Kate and Sawyer to escape. She realized Pickett was right. Right then and there, Juliet decided to hell with how important it was to her or the research that they not escape, that if it was that important to BEN, she was going to do the opposite.
To me, this suggests that Juliet is not just in disagreement with Ben, he’s not just standing in her way of what she wants, but she genuinely hates the guy.

When i watched the episode i thought the exact same thing… but not the research thought.
= = = i believe that the others in a way wanted to go to the island Based one the above ep. and that they are just making use of what was left by Dharma. I personally i now don’t think that they are part of dharma
as the producers did say that dharma was just the tip of the iceberg
