In the Bible Ben was the 12th and youngest son of Jacob.

Im new to this site so I dont know if this has been brought up before….please forgive me if it has.
Has anyone noticed the use of names from the Bible in lost. In the Bible Ben was the 12th and youngest son of Jacob. Could Jacob be Ben’s father? The name Ethan also appears 8 times in the Hebrew Bible. Also, I noticed mention of the sons of Abraham when Desmond was a Monk. Has anyone ever read about the seeds of Abraham? I am not trying to provide a theorie….I just want someone to help me answer the so so many questions I have. Many UFO fanatics also beleive that that certain parts of the Bible specifically talk about these names and how they came down from the heavens and were were attracted to woman on earth, but were not supposed to marry or be given in marriage (This kind of reminds me of Desmonds sacrifice.
Yes, definitely the Bible and the names have been well discussed. Also, it is quite possible that Jacob could be Bens’ father, but I don’t know that for sure. “Lost” has many references to many religions and aspects of spirituality, etc. If you saw last nights episode and noticed Desmonds’ comment about the name on the wine bottle, it was “Moriah”, which is said to be the specific mountain that Abraham climbed when God asked him to sacrifice his son. It is also referenced, but not proven to have been where Jesus was crucified. If you can, please provide the references to Ethan. Cheers!
I also forgot to mention the name Rachel. In the Bible Rachel was Ben’s mother (Juliet’s sister Rachel who had cancer). Please dig deep on this everyone
Welcome Marvin. Yes the Bible reference has been thought on extensivly. And you are right on about the Ethan appearing in the Hebrew Bible. It def seems relevant.
Who was Ethan in the bible?
My association with Ethan Rom has always been with Ethan Fromme the book by Edith Wharton. Title character has an invalid wife that he doesn’t love. Falls in love with her caretaker. They decide they can’t be together but can’t live without each other. Attempt to kill themselves but survive and are themselves invalids. You know one of those cheery, upbeat books that English teachers love to assign :)
